4 Lakes Hike

For those who have not yet had enough with one mountain lake, we recommend the 4 Lakes Hike.

First you take the Schmittenhöhebahn to the summit of the Schmittenhöhe. With great views of the Kitzsteinhorn and its neighboring 3000m peaks, it goes downhill past our 3 lakes. At the end of the tour, the last lake in the valley awaits you – the Zeller See.

Swallow Wall

The Bergasthof Mitterberg, one of our most famous viewpoints in Zell am See, is also the starting point for a beautiful hike with our beloved four-legged friends to the Schwalbenwand. On the way to the Schwalbenwand, you initially follow a forest road until after 500 meters you branch off into the forest, on a signposted hiking trail. This path is well signposted, and you follow it until you are above the tree line. Then you will see your destination for the first time – the Schwalbenwand. Following the ridge, it goes up to the summit at 2034m and an excellent panoramic view stretches from the Steinernes Meer to the Kitzsteinhorn. On the descent, you can either follow the ascent variant or descend via the Schützingalm. The distance of the latter route is only slightly longer, and worth is as you get the chance to taste some of our best regional delicacies. In addition to excellent catering, it is also the starting point for the hike to the Schwalbenwand. The way back is via the Schönwieskopf. In total there are three summit experiences. You will hardly find more views on any other hike!
